Pelican House

Pelican House is a cottage in the east of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, looking out over Pelican Dam, and it is taken on exclusive use by one group at a time. It sleeps eight, and ten on request. The main house holds six: two large en-suite double rooms and a third double bedroom with its own separate bathroom. A fourth double, with its own bathroom, stands apart from the house in the garden. Two extra beds can be added on request. Electricity comes from solar panels and the hot water from kuni boilers; mobile reception is patchy, but there is free Wi-Fi.

Guests either bring their own food or take the catered option, which covers breakfast, lunch and dinner but not drinks. The kitchen has a five-burner gas cooker with a gas oven and a fridge-freezer, a housekeeper helps with the housework, and a chef can be arranged for an extra charge; picnic meals can also be ordered ahead from Antonia's Kitchen. The deck looks over the water to Mount Kenya, and the dam draws a good deal of wildlife, especially in the dry season. There is a veranda for breakfast, a garden, a campfire for sundowners, and a fireplace in the living room for the end of the day. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Baraka the blind black rhino and Morani's Restaurant are all within easy reach.
